El Mariachi

After a long day of shopping for Christmas presents, ABF & I were looking for a spot for dinner. The streets were nearly deserted in Rockville Centre, and the few restaurants open were packed to the gills!

We finally ended up at El Mariachi, a Mexican restaurant just steps from the LIRR station. A few tables were occupied, but the restaurant was otherwise empty. We got a seat right away and I ordered a 'rita on the rocks while ABF got an iced tea.

It has been a while since we've gone out for Mexican, so I went right for the chimichanga. I was expecting a small bundle of deliciousness, but instead they brought out three large enchilda-shaped chimichangas. Thankfully, ABF was there to share, and I brought home the rest (and then ABF finished that too when I forgot it at his place!) It also came with two of my favorite sides: pico de gallo and guacamole!

ABF ordered the Enchiladas Suiza, my usual standard, but their version is a little different--I think there was some spinach in there. These were good, but my dish (FOR ONCE!) was even better.

And as festive as the Christmas decor was--this is the sign that stood out to me: the Cinco de Mayo countdown!

If you're in the neighborhood and looking for good Mexican food, swift service, and a tart-but-tasty margarita, El Mariachi is the spot to try!
